Our Story

Larry & Lea Wood established Ninth Street Flowers in 2003 with the mission of providing the freshest flowers, inspired designs,
unsurpassed service, and generous value.

Over these eighteen years, the shop’s reputation has spread as the Ninth Street Flowers team has worked hard to build longstanding relationships with their neighbors, friends and the greater Triangle community. Their reputation has been built on the creativity of their design work, and also the high level of service they provide to back up this beauty.

The shop works with individual customers, and with business and corporate clients to provide flowers for large or small luncheons, dinners, meetings, parties, events and expressions of thanks. Ninth Street Flowers is now the premier flower shop serving Durham, Duke University, Chapel Hill, RTP, and parts of Apex, Cary and Raleigh.

In thanks for Ninth Street Flowers’ success, an integral part of the business has been giving back to the community. Larry & Lea are committed to donating flower arrangements and gift certificates to many local charitable organizations.

Our Flowers

Ninth Street Flowers owner Larry Wood does all of the shop's flower sourcing, locally and from Ecuador, Holland and California. With access to some of the most exclusive flowers the world over, his passion is making floral beauty a part of your everyday life.

His longstanding relationships with local farmers and floral vendors enable him to source the highest quality, freshest blooms available. The signature lilies that are striking in their beauty, size and fragrance come from right here in Durham, NC.

Whenever possible, he takes advantage of what North Carolina's flourishing flower farms can provide. For specific flowers that don't thrive in our climate or when the seasons dictate, Larry works hard to source flowers that feature unique character, longevity, freshness, rarity and color. He has built our reputation of regularly having in our cooler a broad assortment of flowers and if we don't have something you want, he will personally make every effort to find it for you.
